LA Metro Wants to Speed Up Two Rail Lines So They’re Ready By the 2024 Olympics If Los Angeles Wins It

LA’s Olympic dreams include a big-time renovation of the Coliseum and the creation of athlete housing along the LA River, but the Games could also help get two pivotal transportation projects finished years ahead of schedule. The LA Times reports that Metro has officially asked to participate in a pilot program from the Federal Transit Administration that would kick the construction into overdrive on the Purple Line extension and speed up work on the Crenshaw Line’s connection to LAX so that both are done in time for the 2024 Games that LA might be hosting.

The LAX/rail connection would link the Crenshaw Line stop at Ninety-Sixth Street and Aviation to a people-mover train that will take riders to a transit hub, a rental car facility, and the terminals at LAX. The Crenshaw Line is expected to open in 2019, but the link to LAX is currently scheduled to open four years after the Olympics, in 2028. If Metro’s approved, it would be finished in time for the 2024 Games. Continu to read

Protests block roadways around international terminal at LAX

In response to President Trump’s executive order barring citizens of seven majority-Muslim nations from entering the United States, thousands of protestors gathered at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX Sunday, eventually spilling out onto the roadway and forcing officials to divert traffic around the terminal.

The resulting traffic jam was slow-moving enough that many travelers began abandoning vehicles and trickling into the airport on foot.

As of this evening, airport officials were still diverting traffic away from the international terminal. According to a press release from LAX, numerous airlines have delayed flights as crewmembers have struggled to get to their respective terminals. continu reading

Lakers Nation. After a 49 points lost To Dallas , The Lakers Played Much Better Against Portland and Had opportinity to Win That game

Well Lakers Nation. every Body is talking Tank. The world Tank has become the most discussed subject in Lakers history. every body has become The Lakers GM on radio on television. Some even suggested Lu William leading the team  from the bench in scoring to be traded.   the same lu William  being part of the league best scoring bench. the same bench who capped the Lakers in the game today. without Lu that game would have been done by the third quarter. once again Randle a no sow. unable to score   under the basket, unable to play defense. lazy to go after McCullough on defense the coach removed him from the game. How long is it going to take Randle to understand the game. I mean the talent is there but common how in the world you are going to jog  to McCullough at a 3 points line wide open. So hard to believe. But any way I was just glad to see them play hard. you do not have to loose by 49 points to tank. you can still tank by loosing by 7 points and continu to learn. Zubac has so much talent than Mazgov. still soft by nature but it will come with time . can protect the rim better,  score better but some one needs to tell him to go strong to the basket. He will learn with time . he just need more experience but the talent is there.

Nearly 600,000 riders boarded Metro trains on the day of the Women’s March

Three days after Saturday’s Women’s March drew nearly unprecedented crowds to Do

wntown Los Angeles, Metro has revealed the day’s ridership numbers. Not surprisingly, given the size of the crowds that packed into trains throughout the day, the agency says its rail network transported more than double the number of typical weekend riders.

Overall, Metro estimates that 592,000 passengers boarded trains throughout the day. That metric does not account for repeat riders or return trips.

The busiest stations were in the Downtown area, though Red Line stops at North Hollywood and Universal City were also among the most crowded. Continu to read
