First Look at 40-Story 8th & Hope Tower Mitsui Fudosan America plans a second Downtown development.

During a final rush of submissions in advance of the Measure S vote, developer Mitsui Fudosan America filed plans with the City of Los Angeles to construct a residential tower at 8th and Hope Streets

A rendering of the proposed mixed-use building, which is being designed by architecture firm Johnson Fain, portrays a sleek 40-story, 467-foot tower with 409 apartments sitting above a retail and parking podium.  The above-grade garage levels would be wrapped in perforated metal panels, and capped by a pool and amenity deck. Whoa: Rendering Revealed for 66-Story DTLA Tower The Hotel Figueroa may be getting a tall next-door neighbor.

A rendering has emerged for a skyline-altering development slated for a parking lot north of Staples Center and the L.A. Live complex.

The project, submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department earlier this year, would create a 66-story tower on a nearly two-acre property at 925 S. Figueroa Street, adjacent to the Hotel Figueroa.  A full buildout of the development would include 200 condominiums, a 220-key hotel, 94,000 square feet of commercial space and a 617-car garage. LA 2024 Olympics not likely to be a financial disaster, according to a state report

Released by the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, it suggests the city could host a low-cost and low-risk games—should it win its bid.

Only two prospective host cities, Los Angeles and Paris, remain in the hunt for the 2024 Olympic games. Two other finalists, Rome and Budapest, dropped out of the race in part because of concerns about the kind of cost overruns that have plagued recent games.

After demonstrators took to the streets in Rio de Janeiro to protest the costs associated with the most recent games, Angelenos can’t be blamed for being concerned about the negative effects of hosting—especially amid mounting evidence that it’s simply a losing proposition. But a new report from the California Legislative Analyst’s Office suggests that the city’s plan for a fiscally responsible games will keep the risks of major financial losses relatively low. continu to read

Take a Look Through Santa Monica’s Newly Opened Ishihara Park

One month ago, the City of Santa Monica celebrated the opening of Ishihara Park, a linear green space in the Pico Community.

Renderings Unveiled for $250-Million Queen Mary Island The retail and entertainment complex will span 65 acres on the Long Beach waterfront

Nearly one year after taking control of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, developer Urban Commons has unveiled plans to build a $250-million entertainment complex adjacent to the historic ocean liner.

The Queen Mary Island development, reported earlier today by the Los Angeles Times, would transform 65 acres of waterfront property into a mixed-use center featuring approximately 700,000 square feet of open-air retail space, a 200-key hotel and a large amphitheater.  Plans also call for a new boardwalk – flanked by shops and restaurants – as well as a new small-boat marina. Delta’s relocation to LAX Terminals 2 and 3 scheduled for May 12-17 in first step of planned $1.9 billion Delta Sky Way at LAX

Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will orchestrate one of the largest terminal moves in the history of commercial aviation when Delta relocates from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in May, and Delta customers will reap the benefits from day one.LAX Terminal 2 before and after.

 

The move, scheduled to start on May 12, will impact 21 airlines during a one-week period and is a precursor to the Delta Sky Way at LAX, Delta’s $1.9 billion plan to modernize, upgrade and connect Terminals 2, 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at LAX over the next seven years. continu reading
