Seven Architects Reimagine the L.A. River Through Downtown The concrete waterway is flanked by the Arts District and Boyle Heights

The City of Los Angeles and its Bureau of Engineering recently worked with seven design firms to reenvision seven sections of the L.A. River through Downtown Los Angeles.  Participants, as well as their corresponding segments include:
Gruen Associates: Barclay to Spring Street
WSP: Spring Street to Cesar Chavez Avenue
CH2M: Cesar Chavez Avenue to 1st Street
Chee Salette: 1st Street to 4th Street
Mia Lehrer + Associates: 4th Street to 7th Street
AECOM: 7th Street to Olympic Boulevard
Tetra Tech: Olympic Boulevard to 26th Street
The conceptual images that resulted from this process have reimagined the river banks with open space, play areas, public art, new connections and development. Continue reading

Towering Arts District Project Would Flank the L.A. River

Equities on a proposed development which would feature high-rise buildings containing up to 800,000 square feet of offices, 250 residential units, two boutique hotels and street-fronting retail and restaurant space. continu reading
